Rod: 37kg Shimano T-Curve
Reel: Daiwa Saltiga 5000 + 70lb Braid
Shaun and I fished Ardrossan on the morning of 21st for 13 Squid. The squid were very touchy and shy. 6 Squid survived the trip to Port Augusta.
We sounded ~60 Kings on the Seabird wreck. Shaun hooked and lost 3 fish to the wreck.
I managed to land one on heavy drag at about 6:30am on the incoming tide on a 200g River2Sea Sea Rock Jig white in colour.
We fished the wreck the next day with no luck.

Shaun also hooked and got busted off on the South Pole on Jig.
There was only 1 other King landed that weekend near PowerStation.
I got smoked near the wall on a downrigged squid and Shaun got busted off on the pole by King on the Jig and also on 10kg mono after a short fight.

Hamish and Decland stayed in the Bunkhouse next to us at the Shoreline Caravan Park.

Fedy and Bruce were up there sleeping in the boat and didn't have one hookup all weekend.

Wind-on: 80lb Jinkai
Rod: 37kg Shimano T-Curve
Reel: Daiwa Saltiga 5000 + 70lb Braid

Shaun and I headed to Port Augusta stopping off at Ardrossan to collect some live squid.
We collected about 10 squid and 4 survived the trip to Port Augusta.
We tied the remaining live squid in a laundry basket on a boat out from the boat ramp called "Coffee Break".

We were in Shauns boat and we stayed at the Shoreline Caravan Park in Bunkhouse B4.

I landed 2 fish and lost 2, one with a pulled hook which was severed at the trace and another on Jig which busted me off on the South Pole using Combi Jerk and Certate 3500HD with 30lb Tuff Line.

Shaun landed 4 fish and pulled hooks on another, we had 8 hook ups in total.

The Jig of the trip was a Pink/Lumo Daiwa Sacrifice Jig 200grams. Best to drop jigs into school away from structure.

Schools of up to 100+ sounded on the last day between the Channel Outlet and the South Pole.

Squid was very hard to get before first shacks, heading up coast toward the Sea Bird to collect squid, managed 3 before big winds came in.

Most squid caught on Yo-Zuri Auri-Q HS.

Port Augusta Billy and Glenn 7th - 9th June 2014

 7 Kingfish on the sounder

Moon: Week before Full Moon.
Weight: 5kg
Hookup at: 12:30 lunch.
Rig: 2 x 8/0 Mustad Hoodlum Hooks
Trace: 100lb Jinkai Plus
Wind-on: 80lb Saltiga Type N Shock Leader
Rod: 37kg Shimano T-Curve
Reel: Daiwa Saltiga 5000 + 70lb Braid

Trolling depth: 20-22ft / 6m
Water Temp: 18 degrees to 20 degrees in Outlet Channel.
Wind: Up to 7 knot SE

Trip from 7th to 9th June with Glenn.
Caught on live squid trolling with downrigger and 7lb weight.

Squid were easy to catch with orange jig with pearl on back.

The fish were hard against the wall when hooked, we drove the fish into deeper water.

I dropped a fish after the first hook up, Glenn missed the gaff opportunity and the fish dropped hooks.

The 2nd hook up we landed the fish.

The 3rd hook up Glenn was fighting the fish and it dropped the hooks.

A 4th take the kingfish stripped the squid off the hooks.

Good squid location is North side of the Red Beacon No.24 at end of the channel before the shacks.
Should be marked on GPS.
